Ubuntu has released a new update about every 6 months. This April is is no exception.
Lucid Lynx is coming and the Alpha is already out. I downloaded the 64bit and the 32bit today just to do some testing on this. The first thing I did was burn each cd and test them in Virtual Box and test to see if the cd is readable with the built in test. Both DVD’s passed.
Now the fun part, trying to install in VB. The first one I tried was the 64 bit, every time it tried to install a package I got an error about the package not being readable, YAY! Let me point out the 64bit does not have the visual installer yet. Next was the 32 bit, this one would not find the virtual hard drive, what’s going on here? So I booted to the live part. This time it booted. Let me also add that the 64bit does not have the live cd part in the iso yet.
Once I got into the live part of the cd, there are still errors. Ubuntu software center crashes right off and will not open. Gnome3 that was promised with the 10.04 release is not in yet and 2.29.3 is the version that is in it as of now.
There is a virtual machine with Ubuntu 10.04 and xubuntu 10.04 on VirtualBoxImages.com. I am downloading the XUbuntu at this time to test it out and to make another post later on about how or if anything has changed and the good / bad about it.
Hopefully I will be making this post some time tomorrow as it is now bed time. Hope to see you all soon!

I love Ubuntu. It is a great system, and has done more to beautify Linux and make it more user friendly than any other distro out there.
