Mozilla minefield

Posted by Michael On October - 25 - 2009

I have switched over to Firefox recently. I was using Safari But it would not render NearlyTech.com at all, in fact it was all out of sorts. So I changed back to Firefox. I must say, it has got a lot faster. I was on Vista 32 before though so that may have been why it was so slow. I did upgrade (back when beta was new) to windows 7 and have used it ever since.

But in my search for things for Firefox, I came across something I was impressed with. I found what is called Mozilla Minefield, its basically Firefox, but really really improved.

I found the alpha, which it still is. and installed it in both my windows 7 and my Ubuntu Beta install. (both of which are 64 bit) I have noticed it is very speedy, very stable even as an alpha, and quit a bit better. The only things are that a lot of the addons and themes do not work as of yet.

The only official place to get it at this time is the nightly builds from Mozilla at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/

All in all for an Alpha build, it is very stable, very fast, and very good. Check it out for youself and let me know what you think!

I like to read this stuff.. if helps me understand my own decisions better. It’s just good to know someone else is thinking the same things.
